So what's the process of filing a claim if I have damage?

Contact an exterior contractor to inspect your home prior to filing a claim (this helps prevent the homeowner from filing a claim when the damages might not be higher than their deductible).  Have your contractor give you a detailed report of what is damaged on the property (explaining the damages).  Once you’ve obtained a copy of that report (there will be verbiage in the report that the insurance provider might ask for i.e Date of loss, date of discovery etc), file a claim with your insurance provider. Provide your contractor with a claim number so they can help with the filing process if the IC has questions regarding damages etc.  Make sure to have your contractor present when the insurance inspection/adjuster appointment is happening. Provide the contractor with the insurance estimate once it’s completed so they’re aware of what the scope of work will be that’s been approved by the IC.

How do I know if my home has been damaged from storms?

Give your local contractor a call. Some warning signs that you may need to call include there was a recent hail storm in your neighborhood, there have been strong winds or you’re visibly able to see damage. Roof Inspections are free, so it never hurts to give us a call to come take a peak!
